Evri is Failing Our Families – Enough is Enough

I’ve had enough. Is it just me, or has the simple act of receiving a parcel become a daily battle against incompetence? I’m talking about Evri.

It’s not just me, either. I’ve seen countless posts on the local pages lately from people in the same boat. Many of my friends have had parcels simply not turn up. Others are getting notifications saying a parcel has been "delivered" when they are standing right there and the doorstep is empty. In some cases, they are just dumping them at the wrong address entirely.

And when you actually manage to get through to them? They couldn't care less.

A Heartbreaking Christmas Fail

This hit home for us personally this week. Our young son was supposed to have one of his Christmas presents delivered. He’s autistic, and for him, things like his Minecraft gear aren't just toys - they are his world. We were so looking forward to seeing him smile when he saw it, as it would have looked amazing in his room.

But, in typical fashion, Evri delivered it to the wrong address. When Zoe was talking to them, trying to get it sorted, the attitude was pathetic. No empathy, no "sorry," just a complete lack of care. It’s heartless. For a company that deals with gifts and people’s hard-earned money, they have no soul.

The Fight for Accountability

I’m not just ranting for the sake of it, I’m taking action. I have written to our MP, Nick Smith, to demand he takes notice.

There is actually a "thing" in Parliament right now called Early Day Motion 2528, which was tabled on December 18th specifically about "Missing Evri deliveries." It calls out the nationwide failures and the "couldn't care less" attitude of these companies. I’ve asked Nick to sign it and to push for a new law that forces these companies to have real human customer service.

Why do they get away with it?

  • The Licence Loophole: Since 2011, parcel companies don't need a physical "Postal Licence" to operate. They just have to follow "general rules," which makes it almost impossible for the government to shut them down.

  • The "Not My Problem" Shield: Legally, your contract is with the shop, not Evri. They use this to ignore you, because in their eyes, you aren't the customer.

Something Needs to Change

We don't need more "investigations." We need real action. We need a law that says if you deliver parcels, you MUST have a UK-based phone line with a real person who actually cares. And we need couriers to be held 100% responsible for the cost of lost orders.

It’s time we stopped accepting "budget" service as an excuse for "broken" hearts. We pay for a delivery, not a lottery ticket.

Have you had a nightmare with Evri lately? Are you seeing the same things on your local pages? Let me know in the comments, we need to keep the pressure on.
